Four tools

All of Brode, one agent away

The server exposes four MCP tools: your agents discover capabilities, convert and fetch files on their own.

brode_convert

Converts an image (uploaded beforehand via /api/mcp/upload) into a vector file (SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF) or machine embroidery file (DST, PES, JEF, VP3, EXP, U01, XXX) — preset of your choice, advanced options, configurable wait.

brode_job_status

Tracks a conversion job: status (queued, processing, completed, failed), progress stage, result metadata.

brode_download

Fetches the converted file (result, preview, thread chart or stitch trace): always returns a download URL to fetch with curl and the same key (never base64).

brode_presets

Choosing guide: presets, output formats and common options (colors, stitch density, angle, underlay…).

Getting started

Three steps, two minutes

The Brode MCP server is remote: nothing to install, no dependencies — just an API key and the server URL.

    Create your API key

    Create a free Brode account, then generate a personal key under Settings → API keys. It is shown only once.

  2. 2

    Configure your MCP client

    Add the server https://brode.io/api/mcp with your key as a Bearer header — config snippets below.

  3. 3

    Convert from your agents

    Just ask, e.g. “convert logo.png to DST at 120 mm”. The agent calls brode_convert then brode_download.

Every MCP conversion consumes your Brode monthly quota, exactly like the website: 5 vectorizations + 2 embroidery files per month on the free tier, up to 300 + 50 on the Atelier plan. No extra cost.

Your data stays yours

The engine runs entirely server-side: no local install, your files only transit through your account. Sources and results are purged according to your plan retention; keys can be revoked at any time.

Frequently asked questions

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants (Claude, Cursor…) connect to external tools. You describe a task in natural language, the agent calls the Brode server tools.

Is the MCP server free?

The server itself is free: each conversion simply consumes your Brode account monthly quota, just like a conversion made on the website. Paid plans raise the quotas.

Which input formats are accepted?

PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP and TIFF, up to 20 MB. Outputs range from SVG to DXF on the vector side, and DST/PES/JEF/VP3/EXP/U01/XXX for machine embroidery.

Can I convert to embroidery AND vector?

Yes — the same image can come out as an SVG mockup and a DST machine file. Vector and embroidery quotas are tracked separately.

Are my files used to train models?

No. Files are only used to produce your conversions and are purged according to your plan retention. No training, no sharing.

How do I revoke a key?

Under Settings → API keys, in one click. The key stops working immediately.
